The river end of Silom remains the jewelry center of
Bangkok and when Rama Jewelry opened it's doors in 1960 at Silom-Surasak
intersection, it could hardly have imagined that 35 years later it would be a
pioneering leader in the jewelry business and a major exporter for Thailand.
Initially a small trading house selling handicrafts, silk, brassware and
jewelry this little store soon grew crowded, and in 1969 moved into its
present seven-storeyed building.

The company became officially registered at this time and continues to build
the reputation Rama Jewelry has earned. Gems for sale include diamonds, rubies,
sapphires, emeralds, topaz and other color stones, with settings of gold,
platinum and silver available. Local and internationally designed merchandise
is on display for purchasing and admiring.
In 1995, Rama Jewelry took the opportunity to present its fine jewelry to high-class
retail customers at the newly opened Gayson Plaza, a beautiful retail plaza
opposite the World Trade Center. The plaza is more central to Bangkok retail
shoppers, targets a different clientele, and has ample parking space. Rama Jewelry
opened a retail outlet there on
February 10, 1995.Nothing that unscrupulous dealers might take advantage of
less knowledgeable buyers, Rama Jewelry took the preventive step of opening
a gem testing laboratory to verify the authenticity of gemstones, thereby eliminating
the guesswork in buying.
Using state-of-the-art-computerized equipment and gemology trained technicians,
Rama Jewelry Laboratory can appraise and certify gemstones within minutes of
customers and wholesalers. All work is supervised and checked by a graduate of
the Gemological Institute of America, USA, and very precise and reliable
appraisals are par for the course. By testing, everyone can be sure of their
investment and take pride in the quality of their gift of purchase. Naturally,
all gemstones sold by Rama Jewelry come with a certification of authenticity.
As a member of Thai Gem and Jewelry Association, Rama Jewelry works closely
with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to prevent fake gems from being sold in
the marketplaces, and to encourage honest and fair pricing of jewelry.
Naturally
one would expect that finding a proper office or showroom in the heart of
Thailand's Jewelry center might prove a bit difficult to come by. Not anymore.
